On March 7, 1965 - a day now known as "Bloody Sunday" - 600 civil rights marchers attempted to walk from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama to protest voting rights discrimination. As they crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge, state troopers attacked them with billy clubs and tear gas, beating peace
