Friday Prayer: After Ascension

Father, Jesus ascended yesterday. Today the disciples are back in Jerusalem, waiting for the promised Spirit. They're in the gap between ascension and Pentecost, between promise and fulfillment, between command and empowerment. I'm in my own gap too - between what you've promised and what you've delivered, between what you've commanded and what you've empowered.

Help me wait like they waited - praying constantly, maintaining unity, staying positioned to receive what you promise. I want to act immediately, accomplish something visible, produce measurable results. But you told them to wait. You're telling me to wait too.

Teach me that waiting can be productive if I wait faithfully. Use this gap to build unity with other believers, deepen my dependence on you, and prepare my heart for what's coming. Jesus ascended. He's reigning. He's sending the Spirit. In nine days, Pentecost comes. I'm waiting. Come, Holy Spirit.
