Friday Prayer: Daily Dependence

Lord, I don't like how needy I am. I want to be stronger, more self-sufficient, less dependent on daily grace. I want breakthrough that eliminates struggle, not just strength to face it again tomorrow. But you keep teaching me the same lesson Israel learned in the wilderness: you want dail

Lord, I don't like how needy I am. I want to be stronger, more self-sufficient, less dependent on daily grace. I want breakthrough that eliminates struggle, not just strength to face it again tomorrow. But you keep teaching me the same lesson Israel learned in the wilderness: you want daily relationship, not monthly check-ins.

Give me today my daily bread - not next week's or next month's, just today's. Give me grace for the conversation I'm dreading this afternoon. Give me patience for the frustration I know is coming. Give me wisdom for the decision that can't wait. I can't prepare for tomorrow's needs with today's resources because you promise tomorrow's grace will meet me tomorrow, not today.

Teach me to stop hoarding spiritual experiences like stale manna, trying to live off last year's encounter with you. Teach me to stop planning for self-sufficiency when you're offering something better - daily dependence that keeps me close to you. I need you today, and I'll need you tomorrow, and I'll need you every day after that. Make me okay with that truth.
