Friday Prayer: Fear of Abandonment

Father, I'm scared you'll leave me like everyone else has. I know you promise to never forsake me, but I struggle to believe it because everyone eventually leaves. People have disappointed me, abandoned me, walked away when I needed them most. I keep expecting you to do the same - to finally have enough of me and leave.

Thank you that Jesus experienced the abandonment I deserve so I would never have to experience it. Thank you for promises that don't depend on my performance, presence that doesn't require my perfection, commitment that's based on your character, not my faithfulness.

Help me trust your promise to never leave even when I feel alone. Remind me that feelings aren't facts, that your presence doesn't depend on my ability to sense it. When I'm convinced you've abandoned me, speak your truth louder than my fear. You promised to never leave. Help me build my life on that promise.
