Friday Prayer: The Day After

Father, yesterday my country voted. Today brings results I'm either celebrating or mourning. I'm tempted to treat outcomes as more significant than they are—either rejoicing as if salvation came through politics or despairing as if your kingdom depends on election results.

Remind me that you remain sovereign regardless of who holds office. Your purposes continue despite political changes. Your kingdom advances under hostile governments and friendly ones alike. Daniel served pagan empires faithfully. The early church thrived under Roman persecution. Christianity survives and spreads regardless of political conditions.

Help me engage politically without making politics ultimate. Give me wisdom to work for just policies while recognizing that justice ultimately comes through your kingdom, not human government. Teach me to love political opponents as neighbors, pray for leaders I didn't vote for, and maintain gospel priorities above political victories.

Elections matter, but they're not ultimate. Today I'll keep following Jesus regardless of results. The work continues. The mission remains. Your sovereignty isn't determined by voter preferences. That's enough.

Your evening prayer will be waiting for you right here when you check back in.
