Saturday Prayer: Preparing My Heart
Father, Lent begins in a few days, and I want it to be more than ritual, more than just giving up chocolate or scrolling. I want genuine transformation, honest repentance, real return to you with my whole heart. But I also know I'm prone to performance, to external actions that don't touch internal reality.
Show me what needs to go - what comfort I've made into a functional savior, what distraction keeps me from your presence, what habit has become an addiction. Help me tear my heart, not just my garments. I don't want to fast to prove my discipline; I want to fast to rediscover my dependence on you.
Prepare me for Easter by walking me through these forty days honestly. Don't let me bypass the cross on my way to resurrection. Don't let me avoid the hard work of repentance in favor of easy religious performance. Tear my heart. Transform my life. Return me to you with my whole heart, not just my religious routine.
