Saturday Prayer: Releasing Old Guilt

Saturday Prayer: Releasing Old Guilt

Father, I'm carrying guilt from sins you've already forgiven. I confessed them, you forgave them, but I can't seem to let them go. I keep replaying my failures, rehearsing my mistakes, wondering if I'm really forgiven or just temporarily pardoned pending good behavior.

But your Word is clear: there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. You've removed my sins as far as east is from west. You don't remember them anymore. So why am I still remembering? Why am I letting guilt paralyze me when you've offered complete restoration?

Help me release what you've already removed. When guilt tries to condemn me, remind me of your grace. When shame replays old failures, counter it with your promises. When the accuser brings up my past, let me point to the cross where it was dealt with completely. I'm forgiven. I'm cleansed. I'm restored. Help me live like I believe it.
