Saturday Prayer: Worship From Heart and Mind
Father, you created music and gave humans capacity to worship through it. You deserve worship that engages all of me - mind and heart, reason and emotion, theology and affection. Forgive me when I've treated worship as mere feeling or just intellectual exercise.
Teach me to worship you in spirit and truth - emotionally engaged with biblically grounded content, affectionately responding to theological reality. Whether through ancient hymns or contemporary songs, let my worship direct attention to you, not to the musical style or the performance.
S.D.G. - to God alone be the glory. Not to my preferences, not to my tribe's traditions, not to musical style, but to you alone. Every song I sing, every note I hear, every melody I enjoy - let it all point me toward you. You are worthy of worship that engages all of who I am.
