Sunday Prayer: From Performance to Grace

Sunday Prayer: From Performance to Grace

Father, I've been performing for you instead of resting in you. I've been presenting my spiritual resume instead of confessing my desperate need. I've been measuring my worth by my disciplines instead of trusting Christ's finished work. Forgive my Pharisaism.

Teach me to pray not to earn your favor but to enjoy your presence. To read Scripture not to prove devotion but to know you better. To serve not to validate worth but to express gratitude. I don't need to impress you - Christ already did that on my behalf.

Strip away my performance mentality. Shatter my religious pride. Let me come to you like the tax collector - beating my breast, confessing my need, trusting your mercy. My spiritual resume is garbage compared to knowing Christ. His righteousness, not mine. His performance, not mine. His finished work, not my futile efforts. That's everything.
