Thursday Prayer: Called to Serve
Father, the early church created deacons - Spirit-filled, wise people who served widows, managed food distribution, and handled practical needs. This wasn't lesser ministry but essential service requiring godly character. Stephen and Philip served tables before performing miracles and preaching the gospel. Practical faithfulness prepared them for greater responsibilities.
Help me serve faithfully in the practical roles you've given me. Don't let me despise service that seems unglamorous or wait for "important" ministry before being faithful. The tables need serving. The widows need feeding. The practical work needs doing. Give me Spirit-filled character to serve excellently in whatever you've assigned.
Thank you for people who serve faithfully behind the scenes - managing facilities, coordinating logistics, handling finances, organizing details. They're not second-class ministers but essential servants. Help me honor their work and do my own with the same Spirit-empowerment required for preaching. All ministry matters. All service counts. Make me faithful in mine.
