Thursday Prayer: Faithful in the Unseen

Father, eight days into this year and the newness has already worn thin. I'm back in the ordinary - the same work, the same rooms, the same small duties nobody will ever notice. I'd hoped the year would feel like more than this by now. I confess I measure my days by whether they look significant, and most of them don't.
Zechariah was burning incense on a day like any other when you spoke. He wasn't waiting for a sign; he was taking his turn. Elizabeth had grown old in obscurity and kept serving you anyway. You didn't find them because they'd made themselves remarkable. You found them where they already were, doing what they'd always done.
So teach me to stop despising the routine. Let me be faithful in the unseen hours - the ones with no witness, no result I can point to, no story worth telling. You've already seen every day of my life, including this one. Help me believe it isn't wasted simply because it's quiet. Meet me here, in the ordinary, where you have always come.
Your evening prayer will be waiting for you right here when you check back in.
