Thursday Prayer: Maundy Thursday
Jesus, you washed your disciples' feet knowing one would betray you, one would deny you, all would abandon you. You served those who would fail you, loved those who would leave you, gave yourself for those who would run. You knew their failures before they happened but loved them anyway - loved them to the end.
I'm humbled and convicted. You knelt before betrayers and served them. You instituted communion with deniers at the table. You prayed in agony while your closest friends slept. You faced arrest while your disciples fled. And through it all, you loved - not because they deserved it but because that's who you are.
Teach me that kind of love. The kind that serves anyway, gives anyway, forgives anyway, stays faithful anyway. The kind that doesn't depend on others' response but flows from your character. The kind that loves to the end, regardless of cost. You gave everything that night. Help me give even a fraction of that kind of love to others.
