Thursday Prayer: Strength to Finish

Lord, I've started so many things I never finished - commitments made in enthusiasm that died in difficulty, promises offered sincerely then quietly abandoned. I'm better at beginnings than endings, better at excitement than endurance. Forgive my spiritual ADD.

Give me grace to finish what you've called me to. Not every project or passion, but the things you've specifically assigned me. Help me distinguish between quitting because it's hard and quitting because it's not mine to finish. Strengthen me to persist when feelings fade, to remain faithful when motivation wanes, to keep running when I want to stop. I want to finish well, to hear "well done," to complete what you started in me. Help me take the next step, and then the next, until I cross the finish line you've set for me.
