Thursday Prayer: Teach Me Your Use of Power
Jesus, you possessed all power but used it by dying on a cross. You could have called legions of angels but chose nails instead. You demonstrated that divine power serves through sacrifice rather than dominates through force. I want power without sacrifice, victory without suffering, triumph without cost.
Forgive me for using whatever power I have to protect my interests rather than serve others. In my home, workplace, relationships - wherever I have authority - I'm tempted to dominate rather than sacrifice, to force rather than invite, to control rather than liberate. Show me what your kind of power looks like in my ordinary life.
On this day that remembers both your transfiguration and Hiroshima's devastation, help me reflect the right light. Not power that destroys but power that transforms. Not force that dominates but love that redeems. You're the Light of the World. Make me a reflection of your light, not humanity's darkness.
