Tuesday Prayer: Bodies That Matter
Father, you created physical bodies and called them good. You became flesh in Jesus, demonstrating that embodied existence matters to you. You raised Jesus bodily, proving that resurrection is physical, not just spiritual. You promise me a resurrection body that will never decay or die. Bodies matter to you.
Help me steward my physical health well - not because this body is ultimate but because it's your temple now. Help me care about others' physical health too, working toward healthcare access, health equity, and solutions to preventable suffering. Forgive me when I either obsess over health as ultimate concern or neglect health as unimportant.
Teach me to value bodies rightly - temporary but meaningful, limited but precious, mortal but destined for resurrection. Give me wisdom to care for this body faithfully while remembering I'm getting a better one. My current physical limitations don't define me. My future resurrection body does. Help me live in that truth.
