Tuesday Prayer: Leaders and Followers
Father, I've made leaders into either heroes or villains, expecting them to be saviors or condemning them as failures. I've put people on pedestals they never asked to be on, then been devastated when they fell. I've trusted leaders to fix what only you can fix, giving them authority over my life that belongs only to you.
Forgive my misplaced trust. Help me appreciate leaders' contributions without making them saviors, acknowledge their failures without losing all respect, learn from their examples without expecting perfection. If I'm in leadership, help me lead with humility, knowing I'll make mistakes, trusting your grace is sufficient even for my failures.
You're the only perfect leader, the only one worthy of absolute trust. Every human leader will eventually disappoint, but you never will. Help me follow human leaders with appropriate appreciation and accountability while reserving ultimate allegiance for you alone. You're the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the only leader who never fails.
