Wednesday Prayer: Believing Forgiveness
Father, I'm carrying guilt you've removed, shame about sin you've forgiven, regret for failures the cross has paid for. I confess sins repeatedly not because I keep committing them but because I can't believe you actually forgave them the first time. I treat grace as insufficient, requiring supplement from my guilt.
But you say my transgressions are as far as east from west - infinitely distant, permanently removed, completely gone. When I confess sin, you forgive it and purify me from unrighteousness. There's no condemnation for those in Christ. Zero. None. The guilt I'm carrying isn't from you.
Help me believe that forgiven means forgiven. Let me stop diving down trying to retrieve what you've deliberately discarded. Let me receive forgiveness without reservation and move forward without regret. I'm not honoring your holiness by refusing grace - I'm dishonoring the cross by suggesting it's insufficient. It is sufficient. Help me believe that.
