Wednesday Prayer: Surrendered Plans
Father, I've made plans for this year - good plans, reasonable plans, plans I'm attached to. I've told you about them in prayer, but honestly, I was more informing than inviting. I want your blessing on my plans more than I want your plans for me. That's backwards, and I know it. Teach me
Father, I've made plans for this year - good plans, reasonable plans, plans I'm attached to. I've told you about them in prayer, but honestly, I was more informing than inviting. I want your blessing on my plans more than I want your plans for me. That's backwards, and I know it.
Teach me to hold my plans like Mary held hers - open-handed, surrendered, ready to be rewritten. I don't want to stop planning or abdicate responsibility, but I need to stop treating my plans as if they're sovereign. You see what I can't, know what I don't, and work toward outcomes I can't imagine.
When your plans diverge from mine this year - and they will - give me grace to surrender instead of resist. Help me trust that your rewrites are better than my drafts, that your detours lead somewhere my maps don't show. I say yes to your plans, even the ones I can't see yet. You know what you're doing, even when I don't.
