Friday Prayer: Trusting Without Understanding

Father, what you're asking doesn't make sense to me. I can't see how this will work out. I don't understand how this obedience serves your promises. The command seems to contradict what you've said before. My limited understanding can't comprehend your infinite wisdom. Yet you're asking me to trust anyway.

Help me remember that if I could see the whole plan, I wouldn't need faith. That trust is precisely what's required when your ways don't make sense. That you see what I can't see, know what I don't know, understand what I can't comprehend. Abraham obeyed when the command contradicted the promise. Help me do the same.

I don't need to understand everything to trust you. I don't need complete explanation before I obey. I need relationship with you that makes trust possible despite limited understanding. Your thoughts are higher than mine. Your ways are beyond my comprehension. But I know your character. That's enough. I'm obeying even though I don't understand. I'm trusting even when it doesn't make sense.
