Thursday Prayer: Stop Performing
Father, I confess I've been performing spirituality rather than being transformed by it. I've maintained the appearance of devotion - attending church, serving visibly, posting inspirational content - while privately I'm empty. I've been acting spiritual rather than actually being changed. I'm exhausted from the performance.
Forgive me for caring more about what people think than what you know. Forgive me for developing spiritual practices that look good publicly but don't flow from genuine transformation. Forgive me for treating faith like costume I put on for others rather than character formed through private faithfulness with you.
Help me stop performing. Let me pursue you because I genuinely want you, not because I want others to think I want you. Let me serve from overflow of transformed heart rather than obligation to maintain image. What I do in secret matters more than what I do in public. You see what nobody else sees. Your approval is enough. Change my heart, not just my behavior.
