Monday Prayer: Held by Love
Father, I confess I judge your love by my circumstances, measuring your affection by my comfort level. When things go well, I feel loved. When trials come, I question whether you care. When prayers go unanswered, I wonder if you've withdrawn from me. I'm interpreting circumstances as evidence when the cross is the proof.
Forgive my performance-based thinking about your love. Your love for me isn't conditioned on my faithfulness, dependent on my circumstances, or threatened by my failures. It's secured in Christ. You loved me while I was still your enemy. You gave your Son to die for me. That love doesn't fluctuate based on my current behavior or situation.
Help me build my life on this unshakeable foundation. Nothing can separate me from your love - not death, not life, not my worst failures, not my biggest disappointments, not unanswered prayers, not prolonged suffering. I'm held by love that won't let go. Ever. That's enough security for whatever comes next.
