Monday Prayer: Persistent Prayer
Father, I'm five days into October and prayer already feels dry. I'm talking but not sensing you listening. I'm asking but not seeing answers. I'm showing up but not feeling your presence. The temptation is quitting because continuing seems pointless. But you're teaching me to pray persistently, not just when it feels rewarding.
Help me trust that you're hearing even when I don't sense your presence. Help me believe you're working even when I don't see results. Help me persist even when prayer feels like talking to a wall. The widow kept coming to the judge. Müller kept praying for his friend for fifty-two years. I can keep praying through dry seasons too.
I don't pray to convince you or wear you down. I pray because you've commanded it and because persistent prayer positions me to receive what you want to give when you're ready to give it. So I'll keep praying through October even if it continues feeling dry. You're faithful even when I can't feel it. You're answering even when I can't see it. That's enough to keep me praying.
