Saturday Prayer: Christ Above All

Lord, I've been making celebrities out of your servants, treating gifted teachers like they're more than human, defending them when I should be discerning. I've consumed their content while neglecting my local church. I've known their voices better than my own pastor's. I've let their failures shake my faith more than they should.

Forgive my celebrity worship. These are your servants, not my saviors. Their gifts are from you, not evidence of their superiority. Their platforms don't make them immune to sin or beyond accountability. Help me receive teaching gratefully while keeping Christ central.

Teach me to honor gifted leaders without idolizing them. Let me learn from them without depending on them. Help me test their teaching against Scripture instead of accepting it uncritically. When they fall, let me grieve appropriately but not be devastated - my faith is in Christ, not in them. You alone are my teacher, my shepherd, my Lord.
