Sunday Prayer: Caring for Creation
Father, you created animals and called them good. You care when sparrows fall, feed the birds, and established covenant with every living creature. Thank you for pets that bring joy, teach lessons, and remind me I'm not the only creature you care about.
Forgive me when I've neglected the dominion mandate - failing to steward creation well, abusing animals, ignoring environmental destruction. Forgive me when I've made idols of pets - elevating them inappropriately, substituting animal relationships for human ones, spending disproportionately on creatures while ignoring human need.
Teach me proper relationship with creation - appreciating beauty without worship, providing care without obsession, accepting responsibility without burden. Help me see animals as your creation deserving care, not my possession to use carelessly. All creation groans for redemption. Until that day comes, help me steward well what you've entrusted to my care.
