Sunday Prayer: Dealing with Disappointment

Jesus, you understand disappointment - you came to your own and they didn't receive you, offered living water and watched people walk away thirsty. You know what it feels like when hopes are crushed and dreams don't come true. In your understanding, I find comfort.
Disappointment settled heavy in my chest today when things didn't go as planned, when people didn't come through, when prayers seemed to hit the ceiling. I've been mourning what I thought would happen instead of seeing what actually is. Hope feels dangerous now, like setting myself up to hurt again. Thank you for the disappointments that protected me from wrong paths, for closed doors that led to better ones, for your faithfulness even when my plans fail.
Help me grieve what isn't while staying open to what might be. Teach me to hold hopes lightly and hold you tightly. When disappointment tempts me to stop dreaming, remind me that you're still writing my story. Tonight, I choose to trust that your nos are as loving as your yeses. What feels like ending might just be beginning in disguise.
