Sunday Prayer: Walking Without Fainting

Sunday Prayer: Walking Without Fainting

Father, I'm twenty days into September and I'm tired. Not soaring, not running, just walking - continuing what I started, maintaining what I committed to, persisting through boring middle. The month's novelty is gone, motivation has faded, and I have ten more days to go. I need renewed strength.

You promise that those who hope in you will soar on wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. I'm not soaring right now. I'm barely running. Mostly I'm walking - one foot in front of the other, showing up when I don't feel like it, continuing when nothing's exciting. That's where I am.

Help me not despise walking. It's not less valuable than soaring - it's different. Soaring is spectacular but unsustainable. Walking is unglamorous but essential. Most of spiritual life happens at walking pace. Give me endurance for the last ten days. Help me walk without fainting, continue without quitting, finish what I started. Renew my strength for faithful walking.
