Thursday Prayer: Faithful in the Middle

Thursday Prayer: Faithful in the Middle

Father, I'm in the long middle of Ordinary Time and I confess I'm restless. I want dramatic breakthroughs, spectacular moments, emotional highs that make me feel spiritually alive. But you're teaching me that real formation happens through faithful repetition, not constant novelty. Help me embrace ordinary days as formation opportunities.

Give me discipline to maintain practices even when I don't feel anything - to pray when it seems pointless, read Scripture when it feels boring, gather with your people when worship doesn't produce emotional response. I'm building something through these ordinary choices that occasional spiritual highs can't create.

Don't let me despise the long middle or wish away these ordinary weeks waiting for the next festival. You're working here, in mundane moments, forming me through steady faithfulness. I'm learning that stability produces what novelty destroys. Help me trust the process and stay faithful in the middle.
