Wednesday Prayer: July Begins

Wednesday Prayer: July Begins

Father, July arrives and summer deepens. This month I'll navigate tension between honoring my country and worshiping only you, between gratitude for freedom and recognition that you alone deserve ultimate allegiance. Help me appreciate the good without turning it into an idol, celebrate freedom without forgetting millions who lack it.

I'm still in Ordinary Time - the long stretch between festivals, the daily work of faithful presence without dramatic moments. Help me encounter you in mundane July days just as powerfully as in spectacular Easter celebrations. You're present in ordinary moments. Teach me to notice you there.

As this month begins with heat and holidays, keep my heart focused on you. Let me love my country without worshiping it, honor those who serve while recognizing you're sovereign over all nations. July begins. Your faithfulness continues. That's enough for today.
