Thursday Prayer: Help Me Run My Race

Thursday Prayer: Help Me Run My Race

Father, I'm exhausted from comparing my race to others'. I see their achievements, blessings, and successes, and I feel like I'm failing. Comparison is stealing contentment with what you've given me while creating craving for what you've given them. Forgive me for resenting your distribution of gifts and questioning your goodness toward me.

Help me celebrate others' victories without feeling diminished by them. Their success doesn't threaten mine because we're running different races. You designed specific callings for each person. My job is faithfully running mine, not comparing it to theirs. When comparison creeps in, help me redirect toward gratitude for what you're doing in my life.

Show me what race you've marked out for me. What gifts have you given me? What calling have you placed on my life? What opportunities are you providing? Help me focus on running my race well rather than worrying about theirs. When I stand before you, I want to hear "well done" for faithfully running my race, not excuses for why I was too busy watching theirs to run my own.
