Thursday Prayer: The Upper Room

Thursday Prayer: The Upper Room

Jesus, after you ascended, your disciples gathered in an upper room - not impressive leaders but ordinary people, not confident believers but fearful followers, not a massive movement but 120 people in one room. Yet that's where the church was born. That's where your Spirit came. That's where everything changed.

I'm in my own upper room right now - waiting for promises to be fulfilled, preparing for futures I don't understand, gathering with others who share hope but not certainty. This waiting is hard. I want action, results, visible progress. But you told them to wait, and waiting was essential preparation.

Teach me to wait well - praying constantly, unifying with others, preparing for what's coming even when I don't know what that is. Send your Spirit when the time is right. Until then, help me stay in the upper room, trusting that preparation matters, that waiting has purpose, that the small beginning in hidden places often precedes the powerful work in public spaces. I'm waiting. Come, Holy Spirit.
