Thursday Prayer: When You Feel Absent
Father, you feel absent. I pray but sense no response. I read Scripture but feel no connection. I worship but experience no presence. You seem distant, uninvolved, possibly uncaring. This hurts. I know you're real, but I'm struggling to believe you care about my particular struggles right now.
Mother Teresa walked this road for fifty years. If she could maintain faithfulness through decades of darkness, I can maintain it through October. Help me trust your promises over my perceptions. You said you'd never leave or forsake me. My feelings say otherwise, but your word is more reliable than my emotions.
I'll keep praying even when prayer feels pointless. I'll keep reading Scripture even when it feels dry. I'll keep worshiping even when I don't sense your presence. I'll keep obeying even when I don't feel rewarded. Not because it feels good but because it's right. You're there even when I can't feel you. I'm trusting that. Help my trust hold when feelings don't.
