Tuesday Prayer: Ascending Lord

Jesus, you ascended to the Father forty days after resurrection, completing what incarnation began. You didn't abandon your people by leaving; you empowered them by sending the Spirit. Your physical absence enabled your universal presence. Your departure prepared your return.

Help me understand that you're not inactive or distant. You're interceding as high priest, preparing my place, reigning over all creation, present through the Spirit. The ascension didn't end your involvement with me; it transformed how you're involved. You're closer now than if you were physically present but limited to one location.

Thank you that you'll return the same way you left - visibly, bodily, triumphantly. Until then, I live in the time between ascension and return, between what you've accomplished and what you're preparing. Give me the disciples' joy as I wait for your promised Spirit and your certain return.
