Tuesday Prayer: Memorial Day

Tuesday Prayer: Memorial Day

Father, today we honor those who died in military service - people who laid down their lives believing their sacrifice would protect others. They demonstrated courage, commitment, and love by serving even unto death. Give comfort to families who still grieve. Give peace to veterans who carry wounds - visible and invisible - from their service.

Help me honor sacrifice without glorifying war. Help me respect service members without assuming every conflict was just. Help me remember the fallen without forgetting war's terrible cost. Give me wisdom to distinguish between honoring people and endorsing policies, between respecting soldiers and celebrating violence.

Most of all, help me remember your sacrifice. Jesus laid down his life not for friends but for enemies. He died not to defend a nation but to save the world. His sacrifice accomplished what no military victory ever could - reconciliation with you, transformation of hearts, and peace that lasts forever. Thank you for the One who died so I could live. Help me live a life worthy of that sacrifice.
