Tuesday Prayer: September Starts

Father, September begins and I remember that eighty-seven years ago today, the world descended into darkness. Millions died because ordinary people chose comfort over courage, silence over resistance, collaboration over sacrifice. I see similar choices facing me - smaller scale but same pattern. When do I compromise with what's wrong because resistance is costly? When do I stay silent because speaking up risks too much?

Give me courage to resist evil in my sphere, even when the cost is high. Help me see that small compromises prepare me for larger capitulations, that choosing convenience over conscience trains me in cowardice. Let me learn from those who resisted when resistance was dangerous, who chose faithfulness when betrayal was easier, who died rather than collaborate.

I don't know what stands before me this September, but I know you're faithful. New month, fresh mercy, same God who sustained believers through history's darkest hours. Give me courage for today and trust for tomorrow. Let September be marked by faithfulness, not compromise. I need your strength. Give it.
