Wednesday Prayer: Eve of Ascension
Jesus, tomorrow you'll ascend to the Father. The disciples don't know yet that tomorrow is the last day of your physical presence. They're spending tonight having ordinary conversations, not realizing these are the final hours. Only later will they wish they'd savored every moment, asked every question, noticed every detail.
I do this too - treat ordinary moments as if there's unlimited time, assume opportunities will always be available, postpone important conversations thinking there's always tomorrow. Teach me to treasure the time I have - with you, with people I love, with opportunities you've given.
Help me live faithfully in the "eve" - the space between what was and what's coming, the transition from one chapter to the next. I don't know what tomorrow holds. But you do. You're preparing for the next thing while I'm living in today. Give me faith for the transition, trust for the unknown, and obedience for the waiting. Tomorrow you ascend. I'll wait for the promised Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit.
