Wednesday Prayer: Stop Borrowing Tomorrow's Anxiety

Wednesday Prayer: Stop Borrowing Tomorrow's Anxiety

Father, I confess I'm obsessed with "what if" thinking. What if this happens? What if that goes wrong? What if I can't handle it? I'm suffering from problems that don't exist, exhausting myself over hypothetical disasters, drowning in anxiety about futures that may never arrive. I'm not trusting you - I'm trying to control outcomes through obsessive worrying.

Forgive my anxious catastrophizing. You give grace for actual challenges when they arrive, not advance grace for imagined futures. Most of what I worry about never happens. Even when it does, you provide grace in that moment. I'm wasting energy and peace worrying about possibilities you've already promised to handle.

Help me distinguish planning from worrying. Let me take reasonable steps for actual possibilities without obsessing over hypothetical disasters. When "what if" thoughts arise, help me redirect: "That's possible, but it's not happening now. God will give grace when needed. I'm trusting him with that possibility and focusing on today." Your peace guards my mind when I bring concerns to you in prayer rather than manufacturing them in worry. Give me grace for today. That's enough.
