Wednesday Prayer: Summer's Peak
Father, summer solstice approaches - the longest day, the sun's highest point, the peak before slow decline toward winter. Ancient peoples worshiped this turning point, celebrating the sun's triumph. But I worship the Son who conquered darkness permanently, not symbolically. My hope isn't in seasonal cycles but in Christ who is the Light of the World.
Thank you for rhythms you built into creation - seasons that cycle, days that lengthen and shorten, predictable patterns testifying to your faithfulness. Every sunrise declares your mercies are new. Every season change demonstrates your sovereignty. You govern both increase and decrease, growth and decline, summer and winter.
As I experience the year's longest day, remind me that your faithfulness doesn't depend on daylight duration. Your presence doesn't increase in summer or decrease in winter. Your love doesn't strengthen at noon or weaken at midnight. The sun's movements testify to your reliability, but my hope rests in the Son whose light never dims. Through all seasons, you remain faithful. That's enough.
