Friday Prayer: Trials I Didn't Choose

Friday Prayer: Trials I Didn't Choose

Father, I'm facing trials I didn't choose and don't want. Financial pressure, health problems, broken relationships, circumstances beyond my control. I can't honestly say I'm joyful about these difficulties. They're hard. They hurt. I want relief, not endurance lessons.

But you say to consider it joy because testing produces perseverance, perseverance produces character, character produces hope. You're using trials I didn't choose to accomplish purposes I can't yet see. Help me trust that process. Give me faith to believe you're working good through difficulty, producing maturity through testing, refining me through fire.

I can't control what happens to me. But I can control how I respond. Help me respond with faith rather than fear, trust rather than resentment, perseverance rather than giving up. Let trials produce what comfort never could - proven faith, developed character, enduring hope. I don't enjoy this. But I trust you're using it. Finish your work in me.
