Monday Prayer: Help Me See the New Thing
Father, I'm struggling to see what you're doing. Circumstances look exhausted, depleted, barren. I keep watching for restoration that looks like my past - for you to repeat what I've already experienced, return what I've already lost, restore what already existed. But you said you're doing a new thing. Help me perceive it.
Forgive me for demanding that your new work fit my old expectations. I want familiar patterns, comfortable frameworks, predictable methods. You're pouring new wine that requires new wineskins. Help me release old containers that can't hold what you're preparing. Make me flexible enough for your new work.
Where I see wilderness, show me the way you're making. Where I see wasteland, reveal the streams you're creating. What looks like exhaustion to me might be preparation for unexpected abundance. Help me watch for what you're actually doing rather than what I expect you should do. Open my eyes to perceive the new thing that's already springing up.
