Monday Prayer: Mother's Day

Monday Prayer: Mother's Day

Father, Mother's Day brings complicated emotions - joy and grief, gratitude and longing, celebration and pain. Some rejoice in relationships that bless them. Others ache over relationships that wound them or children they never had. This day is hard for many people who feel invisible or inadequate.

Thank you for showing motherhood honestly in Scripture - as calling that includes both blessing and burden, joy and heartbreak, fulfillment and sacrifice. Thank you that you value all women, whether mothers or not, biological parents or spiritual mentors, fulfilled in that role or aching for it.

Comfort those who grieve today - mothers who've lost children, children who've lost mothers, women who long for children they can't have, parents whose relationships with children bring pain rather than joy. Meet them in their anguish like you met Hannah. Hear their prayers. See their tears. Hold them in their grief. You're close to the brokenhearted. Be especially close today.
