Monday Prayer: My Race, Not Theirs
Father, I confess I've been comparing myself to others constantly. Measuring my spiritual progress against their apparent maturity. Evaluating my service against their impressive contributions. Comparing my inside to their outside. This comparison leaves me either proud or despairing, neither of which serves your kingdom.
Forgive my comparison addiction. It distracts me from my calling while I evaluate theirs. It robs me of joy in what you've given me while I covet what you've given them. It makes me competitive when you've called me to faithfulness. Help me celebrate their gifts without envying them, appreciate their growth without feeling threatened.
What have you called me to? What gifts have you given me? What's my next faithful step in my journey? Those are the only questions that matter. When comparison whispers that I'm behind or lacking, remind me that I'm exactly where you want me, doing what you've assigned me, becoming who you're making me. Stop me from worrying about their journey and help me focus on mine. You are my standard, not them.
