Monday Prayer: Work as Worship

Monday Prayer: Work as Worship

Father, I confess I often view work as necessary drudgery rather than opportunity for worship. I drag myself through tasks, do minimum required, count down to weekends. I've divided life into "sacred" (church, prayer, ministry) and "secular" (work, chores, errands), treating most of my waking hours as spiritually irrelevant.

But you say whatever I do, I should work at it with all my heart as working for you, not human masters. My job isn't just my job - it's mission field, worship opportunity, sphere of service. When I change diapers, enter data, serve customers, fix problems - I'm serving you by serving others. That transforms everything.

Help me work with excellence tomorrow, not grudgingly but gladly, not resentfully but faithfully. Let me see ordinary tasks as worship opportunities, routine work as service to you. Give me energy to serve well and wisdom to rest appropriately, because you designed me with limits I shouldn't ignore. Tomorrow I return to work. Help me return as one serving Christ.
