Sunday Prayer: Worth the Risk

Sunday Prayer: Worth the Risk

Father, the Pilgrims risked everything for religious freedom - left homes, crossed oceans, faced death - because worshiping you according to conscience mattered more than safety. Half died. They went anyway. I'm confronted by their courage and convicted by my comfort.

I face no persecution, no risk for faith, no cost for worship. Yet I treat faith as optional, discipleship as convenient when it fits my schedule, obedience as negotiable when it's uncomfortable. Forgive my comfort-seeking Christianity that wants you without sacrifice, faith without cost, discipleship without cross-carrying.

Give me courage to risk something for faith - not boarding ships for Atlantic crossings, but making daily sacrifices that cost me something. Using time for prayer when I'd rather be entertained. Giving money generously when I'd rather accumulate. Serving others when I'd rather pursue comfort. Speaking truth when silence is safer. Whatever you're calling me toward that requires sacrifice - help me go. You're worth the risk.
