Saturday Prayer: Learning to Rest
Father, I'm exhausted five days into September. I'm running at capacity with no margin, treating busyness as virtue and rest as laziness. I've violated the rhythm you designed, ignored your command for Sabbath, convinced myself I can't afford to stop when there's so much to do. This isn't working.
Your yoke is easy and your burden is light, but mine feels crushing. That means I'm carrying things you never gave me, pursuing productivity you never demanded, measuring my worth by output you don't require. Teach me to rest - not just physical recovery but soul-deep trust that you'll provide even when I stop producing.
Give me courage to practice Sabbath this month - one day per week when I deliberately stop working, trust you with outcomes, create space for worship and restoration. I need rest. Help me receive it without guilt. Let me learn that working from rest is better than resting from exhaustion. Your rhythm sustains what my pace destroys.
