Saturday Prayer: Building on Rock

Saturday Prayer: Building on Rock

Father, October 24, 1929, millions discovered they'd built on sand - stock market returns that seemed permanent but proved temporary. Fortunes vanished overnight. Banks failed. Savings disappeared. What seemed secure collapsed. I'm building my life on unstable foundations too - career, finances, relationships, health. All can vanish as quickly as stock prices in 1929.

Jesus offers a different foundation - obedience to his teaching creates stability that circumstances can't destroy. External losses hurt. But they don't collapse everything if my foundation is Christ. Help me build on rock rather than sand. Show me where I'm trusting things that can disappear overnight. Redirect my confidence from unstable securities to you alone.

Seven days remain in October. What will stand when storms come? What will collapse when circumstances change? I want to build on rock. Teach me what that means practically - not just spiritually sounding phrases but actual choices about where I invest time, energy, hope, and trust. You're the only foundation that holds. Help me build there.
