Saturday Prayer: Getting Up Again

Saturday Prayer: Getting Up Again

Father, I'm ten days into October and I've already failed repeatedly. I started with intentions I haven't kept, commitments I've broken, goals I've abandoned. I'm discouraged and tempted to quit. Why keep trying when I've already demonstrated I'll fail?

But Peter teaches me that falling doesn't disqualify me if I get up. He denied you three times, wept bitterly, then accepted restoration and became the church's foundation. His failure wasn't final because he didn't stay down. I won't stay down either.

Twenty-one days remain in October. I can't change the first ten, but I can determine what happens in the remaining twenty-one. Help me learn from failure instead of being paralyzed by it. Show me what needs adjusting - timing, approach, method. Give me courage to modify what isn't working instead of just repeating the same failed efforts.

Thank you that your faithfulness doesn't depend on my consistency. You didn't fail the first ten days even though I did. Your mercies renewed every morning despite my failures. I'm getting up. I'm pressing on. I'll probably fall again, but I'll keep getting up. That's faithfulness - not perfection, but persistence.
