Saturday Prayer: In the Refining Fire
Father, I'm in the fire and I don't understand why you won't pull me out. This trial has lasted so long. The heat is relentless. I'm exhausted from enduring, tired of being tested, ready for relief. Yet you keep me here, in this sustained difficulty that won't break.
Help me trust you're refining, not punishing. That this prolonged heat has purpose beyond random suffering. That you're removing impurities I couldn't see, developing character I desperately need, forming your image in me through the flames. You're the Refiner who never leaves the fire unattended. You're watching, working, ensuring this accomplishes purification without destruction.
Show me what impurities this heat is revealing - pride, self-reliance, fear, bitterness. Help me let you remove what doesn't belong instead of clinging to dross that needs skimming. I don't enjoy this fire, but I trust you're using it redemptively. When I emerge, may I be refined, not ruined. Purified, not destroyed. Stronger, not broken. I'm trusting the Refiner's hand even when I can't see his purposes.
