Sunday Prayer: After Pentecost

Father, Pentecost was yesterday. Today the church continues - teaching, fellowship, communion, prayer, witness, opposition, growth, persecution. The dramatic wind and fire gave way to daily faithfulness empowered by the same Spirit. I want spectacular experience every day. But you call me to faithful obedience every day, empowered by your Spirit.

Fill me repeatedly like you filled the early church. Not once at conversion but continually for ongoing witness. Give me boldness to speak despite opposition. Give me joy to suffer disgrace for Jesus's name. Give me perseverance to keep witnessing when results seem small and cost seems high.

I'm living after Pentecost too. The Spirit who fell then is available now. The power that launched the church empowers believers today. The mission continues. Fill me. Empower me. Use me. I can't stop speaking about what I've seen and heard. Make me faithful like them. Come, Holy Spirit.
