Thursday Prayer: Strength Through Weakness
Father, I'm tired of pretending I'm strong enough, capable enough, healthy enough to accomplish what you've called me to. I'm weak. I'm limited. I'm inadequate for the tasks before me. I've been trying to hide these weaknesses, overcome them through effort, or wait until I'm stronger to serve you. That's not working.
Your power is made perfect in weakness. My inadequacy isn't disqualifying - it's qualifying. When I'm weak enough to know I need you, your strength can work through me in ways my self-sufficiency prevents. Gregory led the church for fourteen years while often too sick to function. You used his weakness to accomplish purposes his health never could have.
Stop me from trying to be strong enough on my own. Let me serve from acknowledged weakness, lead from recognized inadequacy, minister from honest dependence on your grace. When I'm weak, then I'm strong - because your power works best where mine fails. Make me weak enough to be useful.
