Thursday Prayer: Trusting God's Timeline
Father, the Millerites were certain they'd calculated your return correctly. October 22, 1844, came and went. Their certainty about their interpretation exceeded what Scripture warranted. When expectations fail, it's usually not because you failed but because our interpretations were wrong.
I've had expectations for October that haven't been met. I expected you to do certain things, work in specific ways, answer particular prayers. Twenty-two days in, maybe you haven't - at least not how I expected. Before concluding you're not listening, help me examine whether my expectations came from your actual promises or my interpretation of what I hoped would happen.
You guarantee your presence, your help in weakness, completion of your work in me. You don't guarantee my timeline for any of it. My timing rarely matches yours. That doesn't mean you're not working. It means your timeline differs from mine. Help me trust your timing more than my expectations. Your delays aren't denials. Your "not yet" isn't "no." Keep working. I'm trusting your timeline.
